Assistant Operations Manager - Wellness Center

Antioch College invites applications for an Assistant Operations Manager in the Wellness Center.  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and the position will remain open until filled or canceled. 

Position Summary

The Assistant Operations Manager is part of the team that creates a positive experience for members and guests through excellent customer service. They are responsible for managing the facility for short periods which may consist of opening, closing, and/or weekend shifts.  This is a part-time position that works an average of 20-25 hours per week.

Essential Functions

Supervise day-to-day operations and carry out daily tasks and functions assigned by the Associate Director

Participate in building coverage on a regular rotational basis; may include opening, closing and weekend/holiday shifts

Enforce all safety and operations policies and procedures in a professional, customer-service oriented way

Train for and execute emergency response protocols as required

Execute security measures to fulfill effective operation of the facility (e.g. - proper opening/closing duties, accountability for building keys, money handling etc.)

Safely move items weighing up to 30 pounds

Greet members and visitors upon arrival

Facilitate member and guest access to and usage of the facility

Manage front desk related activities such as answering the phones, member check-in, new member sign-up, facility tours for prospective members

Process updates to member accounts

Process sales for merchandise, memberships, and programs

Help with the marketing of programs through social media, flyers, and email communications

Take cash and check deposits to the Finance Department

Maintain a clean and organized work area and facility

Communicate and update other Operations Managers and the Associate Director

Effective communication and organizational skills with members, colleagues, and the public

Excellent customer service skills:  ability to empathize, problem solve and interact with diverse groups through a variety of situations

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs and the ability to learn software

A demonstrated interest and/or experience in fitness and wellness - preferred

Associates degree in fitness or wellness-related field - preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Be able to give lifeguard short restroom or water breaks, which requires working in the Aquatics Area that is kept at 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Contact with pool chemicals when resupplying pool or spa in the absence of the Aquatics Manager.

May need to help salt or shovel sidewalks during winter weather.

Be able to perform light housekeeping duties such as sweeping, spot vacuuming, spot mopping, cleaning broken glass, or light dishes.

Education, including Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must be 18 years or older

High School diploma/GED required

Associates degree in fitness or wellness-related field - preferred

Hold or obtain American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid certifications within 30 days of employment
