Mental Health Counselor

Position Summary: 

Provide best practice acute mental health treatment interventions, maintain documentation, coordinate resource linkages, and meet the mental health needs of Antioch College students.

Essential Activities/Responsibilities of the Position

Provide acute mental health counseling services

Provide crisis intervention as needed

Create and maintain all clinical forms - intake, releases of information, progress notes, treatment plans, etc.  

Facilitate broader resource linkages for students such as medication management and longer-term counseling services

Serve on First Care team and provide follow up for student referrals as needed  

Provide training to Resident Advisors for crisis interventions and de-escalation techniques

Conduct individual student needs assessments and develop care plans

Conduct a survey of campus mental health needs and recommendations

Create and facilitate trainings on a variety of mental health-related topics as indicated by student needs  

Provide clinical supervision for intern(s)

Supervise and coordinate contracted counseling activities

Create partnerships and memoranda of understanding with local resources for crisis intervention, volunteer counseling services, and mental health education programming

Provide a statistical report each quarter of counseling services rendered

Qualifications:

Independently licensed counseling psychologist or social worker with a supervision designation.

Required Skills:

3-5 years’ mental health treatment experience. Work with diverse populations is required and work with college students, preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Independent counseling licensure or social work license through the state of Ohio, supervision credential through the state of Ohio or related counseling credentials such as LPCC.

Skills and Abilities: 

Movement within and across an historic residential campus

Ability to present information and interact with individuals, or in small and large group settings

Adept keyboarding, use of Google mail and Google docs, word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation technology

Speaking and communicating in person, over the phone, and electronically

Environmental Considerations: 

General office/classroom/meeting environments and residential settings in a higher education institution in a semi-rural residential campus environment.  Will experience temperature and weather extremes when outside.
