Téofilo Espada-Brignoni

Visiting Assistant Professor of Psychology

Teófilo Espada-Brignoni studied psychology and social-community psychology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. He taught psychology in Puerto Rico as an adjunct professor and behavioral science at a medical school in Aruba. In Puerto Rico, Espada also worked as a coordinator and moderator of psychosocial interventions using group dynamic techniques and music. When teaching psychology, he uses examples from music, literature, history, and science to discuss with students the complex relations between the biological, mental, and social fields of human experience. His research interests include the representations of Puerto Rico after the Spanish-American War, the subjective and narrative aspects of autobiographical writing, and social influence. In addition to his academic work, he occasionally plays saxophone and flute.
