Antioch College adds to alumni relations team

photo of Ron NapalYELLOW SPRINGS, Ohio – September 10, 2011 – Manicka Thomas, a former Dayton public school site coordinator, joins Antioch College as an alumni relations officer for events and communications. Thomas’ appointment is effective Monday, September 12.

Working with Alumni Relations Director Stacey Wirrig, Thomas will provide support to the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive alumni relations program with the goal of building alumni participation, affinity, and support.

Thomas was most recently a neighborhood site coordinator at the Fairview Pk-8 School in Dayton. There she served on the principal’s executive team and managed the contributions of community partners bringing programs and activities to the school. She was also the liaison between school staff, external organizations, and the community in the school’s service area.

A licensed social worker, Thomas has been a case worker at Miami Valley Child Development Centers, a resident advisor at the Dayton Job Corp Center, and a child welfare caseworker with the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Thomas has a bachelor's of social work from Freed-Hardeman University and a master's in social work from The Ohio State University.
