Chicago alumni chapter calls for artwork submissions

The Chicago chapter of the Antioch College Alumni is seeking artwork for an all-alumni group show that will be opening in Chicago on August 17.

They are seeking previously created works in the mediums of video, sculpture, painting, 2-D mixed media, 3-D mixed media, installation, photography, print, written/spoken word, or gallery performance, though all mediums will be considered. The chapter would like work that speaks, in some way, to your own experience as an Antiochian, though all work will be considered.

The work will be juried by Creative Director of the Herndon Gallery at Antioch College Dennie Eagleson, Assistant Professor of Visual Art Sara Black, and Hunting Art Prize finalist Jeremy Burks ’01.

Send up to three images of the work that you are submitting (JPEG, TIFF, or PNG), and/or a link to a video (preferably YouTube or Vimeo, and up to five minutes in length). Also include an artist’s statement of up to 100 words about the work. Please include your name, address, and either the year you graduated or years attended.

Submission materials can be sent as attachments or links to .

Q: I was not a fine art major. In fact, I didn’t actually graduate. Will you still consider my work?
A: If you attended Antioch College, we will consider your work. We don’t care what you majored in, or if you left on co-op in the first semester and didn’t return, but we are totally interested in showcasing the work that you have made.

Q: What format would you like the images to be in?
A: We would like them to be JPEG, TIFF, or PNG at a resolution no greater than 720x480 at 72 dpi. Video should be uploaded to YouTube or Vimeo and no longer than five minutes. Yes, we will take images in other formats and other video hosting services, but why not make our lives easier and do it this way?

Q: So, the Chicago chapter is putting this on. Is it open to alumni from anywhere in the country?
A: Oh yeah. That’s how we roll. Though special consideration will be given to artists who were born or are working in Chicago, we would like to put on a bang-up show with work from all over the country.

Q: Where should I direct questions?
A: Please direct them to .

Q: Okay, I submitted. What now?
A: Just wait! We will let you know if your work was accepted and of any further instructions by July 15 at the very latest.
