Alice Jean Webb ‘51

  Alice Jean Webb, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away August 31, 2018 in Canton, MI, at the age of 89. Alice was born November 18, 1928 in Angola, IN to Raymond C. Arbuckle and Mildred Lutz Arbuckle.

  After attending Markleville HS and Antioch College, Alice enlisted in the Navy and served as a Storekeeper. She met and married George Edwin Webb and moved with him from Imperial Beach to Norfolk, Bermuda, Oakland, Seattle, Hawaii, Key West and back to Hawaii, while raising four sons, before settling in San Anselmo in 1966. She was a Realtor/Broker, businesswoman and a working mom, but her passion was writing. She was a published author, a member of writing groups at the College of Marin, and taught numerous classes on the art of the memoir. She was a member of the California Alpine Club and enjoyed trips with friends to Mt. Tam and the Echo Summit. Alice made friends wherever she went, including the Rotary Manor in San Rafael and the State Veteran Home in Yountville.

  Alice is survived by two sons: Dr. Marc G. Webb (Susan), Plymouth, MI and Paul R. Webb (Linda), Boise, ID; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; brother Robert L. Arbuckle, Noblesville, IN; and nieces Sara Carter and Linda Arbuckle. Alice is also survived by Siu Barnett of Sausalito, "My best friend for over 30 years." Alice was preceded in death by sons: Bruce C. Webb and Scott A. Webb; and husbands George E. Webb and Arthur R. Erickson. At her request, a private service was held at Waikiki Beach. In lieu of any donation Alice requested you take a friend or relative to a nice lunch.
