Diane Myrna Cotton '57

December 14, 1933 - July 6, 2013. Diane Myrna Cotton, “Dee” to family and friends, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 6, 2013. A Celebration of Life is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 27, at Faith Bible Church in Wixon Valley, 1282 FM 2776, 1/2 mile north of Hwy 21, Bryan, Texas 77808. Dee was born to Richard and Myrna Dornacher on December 14, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois. Dee graduated from Antioch College, Yellow Springs, Ohio with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy, and then moved to Boston. While in Boston she met and married Frank Albert Cotton. Dee was a devoted wife to Al, and a devoted mother to their two children, Jennifer and Jane. After moving to Bryan, Texas in 1972, Dee became a volunteer for St. Joseph’s Women’s Auxiliary and remained active in the Auxiliary for 35 years. In addition, Dee was an avid quilter, sewing each stitch by hand, turning out quilts for eager recipients of her fine work. She enjoyed reading, listening to good music, and gardening. While she was happy to volunteer in the city, she enjoyed her tranquil life in the country on Cotton Ranch, where she resided until the time of her death. Her husband, Frank “Al” Albert Cotton, preceded Dee in death, as did her parents, Richard and Myrna Dornacher; her twin sister and brother in law, Gretchen and Harry Urell. Survivors include her daughters, Jennifer H. Cotton of Bryan, and Jane C. Morgan or Hurst, Texas; as well as many dear friends. In addition she considered Debbie Wood family, and enjoyed every moment of their friendship through her last day. In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged to be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 W. 26th Street, Bryan Texas 77803, or KAMU, 4244 TAMU College Station, Texas 77843-4244
