Frank W. Doll Jr. '71

Frank W. Doll Jr., 77, entered his home in Heaven on October 9, 2013, after a lifetime of service to God and others. He earned master's degrees from Antioch College and Miami University, and enjoyed a long teaching career, initially in the Kettering City Schools, and then for many years at Sinclair Community College as Professor of Reading. In retirement, he earned a Master's of Missions and Evangelism at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, South Hamilton, MA, and mentored and taught English as a Second Language to international students at the seminary and in the Focus Program at Boston's Park Street Church. He also served in missions in Siberia and Kenya. He was profoundly loved and will be greatly missed by his wife of 50 years Anne Barr Doll, their four children and 10 grandchildren: Elizabeth Doll Maynard, her husband Michael and son Benjamin of Cincinnati, OH; Rev. Gregory M. Doll, wife Kimberly Wilson Doll and children Eliot, Amelia and Simeon of Darien, CT; Megan Doll Maher, husband Jason and children Jack, Emma and Sebastian of Rocky River, OH; and Matthew F. Doll, wife Sharona and children Silas, Ronan and Chiara of Orvieto, Italy. He is also survived by his mother, Anna K. Doll of Kansas City, MO; brothers and sisters-in-law Richard and Madeline Doll, Montgomery, AL; and Daniel and Debra Doll, Overland Park, KS; in-laws Dr. Frank and Carolyn Barr Mayadas, Chappaqua, NY; Dr. Daniel and Beverly Barr Heyduk, Meredith NH; Dr. Frederick and Shelley Conley Barr, Potomac, MD; and Dr. Stephen and Leslie Habel Barr, Waynesville, OH; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank W. Doll, Sr. and sister Joyce Doll Ohlson. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 19, at Church of the Messiah, located at Liberty Worship Center, 1180 Upper Bellbrook Rd., Xenia, OH 45385. Officiating will be the Rev. Gregory M. Doll.
