John “Jay” Pobst ‘52

  John “Jay” Pobst ’52 died in 2016 at home in Barre, MA. He is survived by his wife, Hope Johnson Pobst ’51, and by two daughters, and by nephews, nieces and grandchildren. His daughter Carol was his caregiver.

  John was predeceased by his sister Mary Jane Pobst Reed ’43, and by a daughter, Amy Scannell in Maine.

  John’s military service in World War II was in the Pacific Theater in a hospital ship which responded to the Iwo Jima battle and prepared to deal with the expected invasion of Japan.

  Attendees at his memorial services included Antioch grads Judith Reed Cornelius ’68, Mark Reed ’69 and Scott Reed ’72, a mini-reunion of alums.
