Josephine J. Antonik '49

MARCY, New York—Mrs. Josephine “JoJo” J. Antonik, 87, of Marcy, passed away peacefully on Friday May 3, 2013, at her home with her loving family by side.

Josephine was born in Utica on August 7, 1925, the daughter of Ambrose and Concetta (Ruffini) Costantine. She was raised locally, was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and earned her Bachelor’s of Science in special education from Antioch College in Ohio.

On June 2, 1953, Josephine married Frank Antonik in Kingsport, Tennessee, a loving and devoted union of 35 years until Frank’s death in 1988.

Josephine enjoyed books, gardening and was a parishioner of St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church in Utica.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Frances and Jim Archer of Rochester, NY, Susan and Thomas Ellebracht of Smithfield, VA, Roberta and John McCann of Gravesville, NY, and Patricia and Joseph Shealey of Raleigh, NC; sons and daughters-in-law Andrew Antonik of Paducah, KY, Paul and Cathy Antonik of Poland, NY, Joseph and Celia Antonik of Utica, Michael and Olga Antonik of Ontario, CA, and Matthew and Tatianna Antonik of Lawrence, KS; thirteen cherished grandchildren Frank, Jennifer, Andie, Anna, William, Tara, Melissa, John Robert, Sidney, Andrea, Joseph, David and Scarlett; one adored great-granddaughter, Lynlee; two brothers and sisters-in-law Robert and Mary Costantine and Ambrose (Junior) and Joy Costantine; several nieces and nephews; and her feline companion, Waffles. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law Marsha Finn-Antonik and her three sisters, Elizabeth Antonik, Olga (Cookie) Heaton and Loretta Sliwinski.
