Nancy Elizabeth (Maher) Gordon, LCSW, 72, was born in Delaware County, PA, and passed away on March 1, 2017. She graduated from Antioch College and began her career in social work in 1969 at the Valley Forge Army Hospital, working with returning Vietnam veterans.
She earned her Master of Science degree in Social Work at the University of Louisville. Before opening her private psychotherapy practice in Lexington, KY in April 1990, she had been employed within the Kentucky Comprehensive Care system and Lexington's Family Counseling Service.
Nancy was a Gold Life Master with the American Contract Bridge League and also enjoyed thoroughbred horse racing, water aerobics and the studies of mindfulness and spiritual enlightenment. She greatly missed her Siamese cat friends, Jasmine and Tarot.
Her death, caused by a condition that accompanied non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma, was preceded by that of her parents, Frederick Corson Maher and Elizabeth Jane (Haslett) Maher, and her sister, Ruth Emma (Maher) Seiss.
Surviving are her older brother, Frederick William Maher, Havertown, PA and favorite niece Karen (Seiss) Price, Levittown, PA. Ex-husband Harry J. Gordon remained a stalwart friend.
No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lexington Humane Society.
