Clarence (Clary) Rugg, longtime resident of Rochester, NY, Annandale, VA, Lighthouse Point, FL, and most recently Fort Pierce, FL passed away peacefully at home on September 3, 2012. Clary, who recently celebrated his 95th birthday with family and friends, was born on May 27, 1917 in Rochester, NY. He attended Cornell University, Antioch College, and Rochester Institute of Technology, and married Margaret Bisgrove in Rochester on August 30, 1941. Known for his keen sense of humor and strong commitment to church and community service (most recently for the Citizen Observation Patrol program at Golden Ponds and as President of the Residents’ Council at The Lynmoore), prior to retirement Clary had a long career in sales and product development for a number of companies.
Clary is pre-deceased by his wife, Margaret, his brother, W. Donald Rugg, daughter, Marilyn, and son-in-law Ken Hobcroft, and survived by his son Donald C. Rugg of Cato, NY, daughter Nancy R. Ceriotti of Pompano Beach, FL, son Bill Rugg of Tahlequah, OK, daughter Bonnie R. Hobcroft of Fuquay-Varina, NC, daughter Patti R. Texeira of Mount Sinai, NY, 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service and internment will be (was) held on October 27, 2012 at 10:00 am at Asbury First United Methodist Church in Rochester, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Golden Ponds Neighborhood Watch/C.O.P., 1697 Golden Ponds Drive, Fort Pierce FL, 34945, to support the Citizen Observation Patrol program.
