Vera Jean "V.J." Chimento, 91, of Springfield, OH, passed away on February 19, 2017 in Oakwood Village. She was born on March 16, 1925, in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of the late William and Addie (Neal) Murnahan.
After graduating from Ironton High School in 1942, she moved to Yellow Springs where she met her future husband, Patrick. Vera worked in the alumni office at Antioch College for over 30 years. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, serving as President, and was named Business Woman of the Year.
She was a former member of the Cedarville United Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deaconess and sang in the choir. Vera was a current member of the Northside Baptist Church, where she enjoyed being in the choir and a part of an active Sunday school class. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and square dancing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Patrick; daughter, Karen Nelson, grandson, Nicholas Chimento, four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include two sons, Rick (Lisa) Chimento of Springfield and Mark (Marcia) Chimento of Tualtin, Oregon; daughter, Cathie (Randy) Weaver of Manawa, Wisconsin; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
