More than $14,000 Awarded to Antioch College for Emergency Water Filtration Project

This past fall, a team of students and faculty from Antioch College received a U.S. Environmental ProtectionAgency (EPA) People, Prosperity and the Planet (P3) Phase I grant worth $14,700 to develop and test an emergency water filter system that uses wood tissue as part of the filter. Their research is timely in light of recent water emergencies in Charleston, W.V., Toledo, Ohio, and Flint, Mich.

On Wednesday, March 16, Tom Manley and Susanne Hashim took live questions from alumni and friends at a "Fireside Chat" teleconference. Listen to a sound recording of the event here.

…A Miscellany from a Little Magazine in a Little Town in Ohio

The Antioch Review proudly announces the publication of its winter 2016 issue, “‘Funny Bird Sex’ and Other Miscellaneous Tales,” featuring a lead essay about birds and one of their essential activities—copulation. At first glance this might suggest one thing, but on closer examination, the author, John Nelson, opines that indeed, “funny bird sex” is many, varied, comical and (really) much like human sex. It is essential reading for avid birders.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Precious Jewel Graham, a longtime faculty member of Antioch College, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the Glen Helen Vernet Ecological Center. Here obituary can be found here.
